ShelfSight’s latest Price Pulse shows a 0.8% rise in tracked grocery prices between 3 Aug and 1 Sept, with sugar posting the biggest increase at 2.9%. Milk, flour and cooking oil also recorded upward movement.

ShelfSight detected sharply different price movements on Rina Vegetable Oil. Naivas reduced its tracked 5L listing by KES 101, while Jaza increased its 5L listing by KES 70 — a KES 171 swing in price movement between the two retailers.

ShelfSight’s latest supermarket data shows upward pressure across several flour products in Kenya, with tracked increases ranging from KES 24 to KES 102. Some individual flour listings became cheaper, but several everyday maize and wheat flour products moved in the opposite direction.
